Richard B. Cheney, an accomplished businessman and public servant who is vice president. Cheney, a well-known face on the scene of Washington politics, has served under four presidents from the US. George W. Bush is the fourth. Bush decided to choose Cheney to be his running mate as vice president in July of 2000 in reference to Cheney's expertise and insight. Dick Cheney has served our nation as the chief of staff to a president as well as in the United States Congress and also servedas secretary of the defense. Cheney is a man with integrity whom is admired by Republicans and Democrats. Cheney has said that his position as part of the administration as a candid but quiet advisor to Bush. Cheney declared that when he decided to accept the Republican nomination as vice president Cheney hoped to working alongside a President who worked across party lines and work with political rivals in good faith with common objectives. Richard Bruce Cheney was born in Lincoln Nebraska on January 30 1941. He was the son of Richard Herbert Cheney and the former Marjorie Lauraine Dickey. When he turned 13 old, he moved with his family to Casper located in western state of Wyoming, where his father was the director of the local soil conservation district for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
