Taylor-Joy says the move to London was traumatic and she did not study English so that she could avoid returning to Argentina. She enrolled later at Queen's Gate School in which she took ballet classes and was involved in school productions. She dropped out of high school at 16 to pursue an acting career. Taylor-Joy was always aware her goal was to become an actor. She achieved this when Sarah Doukas founder of Storm Management gave Taylor-Joy a modelling job.
